We offer our partners and customers from the herbs and spices industry a wide range of contract services for the processing of herbs and spices at our location in Hamburg. Since there are no uniform hygiene standards in the international industrial market that apply to raw material producers in all the different countries of origin, as a European service provider for the herbs and spices industry we take on great responsibility for the safety of the products to be processed. That’s why we are particularly thorough and conscientious when it comes to our services for herbs and spices. These include:
Sterilisation of spices via the autoclave process
In a gas-tight, sealable pressure vessel called an autoclave, we treat spices with high pressure and high temperatures. This process kills microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts and moulds, resulting in spices that have a longer shelf life and are microbiologically safe and free from germs.
Industrial cleaning of spices in the flow process
Using a reliable flow process, we remove dust, metal, abrasion and foreign material from pepper, allspice, cardamom and coriander. On request, we can also sort the spices according to size so that they can be processed in the optimal way.
Moisture analyses
Because the moisture content is crucial for the shelf life and quality of spices, we check it using precise measuring methods. Thanks to these moisture analyses, we can prepare the spices for proper storage and processing and make sure they meet the required quality standards.
Transferring from and into different containers
We transfer the spices into different types of containers and packaging to meet requirements in terms of shelf life, intended use and individual customer requests. Whether the product is packaged in glass, bags, tins or sacks, we make sure that the spice filling process runs smoothly.
Efficient storage
With a wide range of storage areas and cold stores with space for more than 40,000 pallets, our Hamburg site offers the best conditions for storing herbs and spices. Our capacities make us one of the largest warehouses in Germany for certified organic herbs and spices, and in Europe for liquorice storage.
